Different content calls for different hero and troop setups — a defensive garrison, an offensive rally, an exploration squad — and switching between them efficiently is a small but genuinely useful skill.
Know your two or three core setups
Rather than reconfiguring from scratch each time, identify your main recurring needs — typically a defense setup, an offense/rally setup, and an exploration setup — and know exactly what each one looks like so switching is quick and deliberate.
Use preset or save features if your game offers them
If there's a way to save and quickly load hero/troop configurations, using it removes the risk of forgetting a step when switching under time pressure, especially right before a rally or event window closes.
Double-check before high-stakes moments
Before committing to a rally, garrison assignment, or event attempt, a quick check that your current setup actually matches what you intended (not a leftover configuration from something else) avoids an easily preventable, costly mistake.
Revisit your core setups as your roster grows
As you develop new heroes or gear, your "best" setup for each situation can change — periodically reassessing your core loadouts against your current full roster keeps them from quietly becoming outdated.
