Alliance Recruitment: How to Attract and Keep Good Members

An alliance's strength is a direct function of who's in it and how long they stay, which makes recruitment and retention a genuinely important leadership skill, not a background task.

Be specific about what you're offering

Vague recruitment messages ("active alliance, join us") attract far fewer serious players than specific ones โ€” mention your actual territory strength, typical activity level, and what kind of member you're looking for. Specificity filters for members who are actually a good fit.

Retention starts in the first week

New members decide quickly whether an alliance is worth staying in โ€” a warm welcome, quick answers to their questions, and visible activity in the first few days matter more than almost anything you do for them later. An alliance that ignores new members for their first week loses a lot of otherwise-good recruits unnecessarily.

Recognize contribution, don't just expect it

Members who see their help-requests answered and their contributions acknowledged stick around longer than members who feel invisible. This doesn't need to be formal โ€” a quick acknowledgment in chat goes a long way.

Address inactive members directly, not passively

An alliance roster full of inactive names hurts real members' territory bonuses and event performance. Having a clear, communicated policy for handling inactivity (rather than letting it drift indefinitely) keeps the alliance's actual strength honest.
