Once a hero reaches its standard level cap, ascension-style systems are usually what let you keep developing them further โ and because ascension materials tend to be scarcer than standard leveling resources, the decision of which heroes to ascend deserves real thought.
Ascend heroes you've already committed to, not new ones
Ascension is a late-stage investment โ it should go toward heroes you've already confirmed are valuable to your account (through gear, skills, and role) rather than a hero you're still uncertain about. Ascending an untested hero risks scarce materials on an unproven investment.
Check what ascension actually unlocks
Some ascension systems just extend the level cap; others unlock entirely new skill tiers or stat bonuses at each ascension threshold. Understanding which applies to your specific hero and game helps you judge whether pushing to the very next threshold is worth the material cost right now, or better saved for later.
Spread ascension materials deliberately, not evenly
The same pattern that applies to shards and Fire Crystals applies here โ concentrating scarce ascension materials on your core, confirmed-valuable heroes produces a stronger account than spreading them thin across many partially-ascended heroes.
Patience is usually rewarded
Since ascension materials are typically slow to accumulate, there's rarely a strong reason to rush a specific ascension threshold unless you have an immediate, concrete need (an upcoming event, a specific content wall) โ steady accumulation and a deliberate target usually beats a rushed, reactive approach.
